Family is not always biological, and at CMH, we consider each other family. Yesterday was a very sad day because we lost a member of our family. Daniel Underwood, MD gained his wings. Dr. Underwood became part of the CMH team in 1982. Over the past 35 years, he has cared for countless patients. He worked in the emergency room for more than 30 years of those years. He has served on the CMH Board of Governors on two occasions and on the CMH Foundation Board. Dr. Underwood ser...ved as medical director of several services over that 35 year time period, was a long time member of CMH’s Quality Council and numerous other committees. To say he was committed to CMH was an understatement. He graciously served in these capacities because he cared about the hospital and the Hicksville community. Beyond his role with us, at one time he served on the Hicksville School Board. He was on the sidelines at Hicksville athletic events caring for injured players. He was involved in summer ball program as well. These are just three of the ways Dr. Underwood gave back to a community he called home. Dr. Underwood will be missed not only as a physician. He was an advocate for patients, the medical staff, and team members. He was a counsellor and friend to many. He made a lasting impact on our organization and we are better because of his service. Dr. Underwood was also devoted to his family. Please keep Dr. Underwood’s family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
